The editorial team

Small, pseudonymous, and accountable to a written method.

Fossil Desk Editorial is the small team behind Prehistoric Farm Codes. We write under a desk name rather than personal profiles, because this site’s credibility is supposed to come from its method and its dates, not from anybody’s follower count.

Who does what

Rowan Hale — Editor. Writes and maintains every page on the site, runs the daily in-game code check, and owns the call on whether a claim is solid enough to publish. Rowan is also the person who decides that a page should say “to be announced” rather than carry a plausible-looking number, which is most of the job on a game this new.

The verification pass. Before anything numeric or quotable goes live it has to point at a primary source or at an in-game observation with a date on it. Where a measurement is involved — a hatch time, a drain rate, a payout — the standard is two independent observations, so a single lucky session cannot become a site-wide fact.

Corrections. Anything we get wrong is fixed and logged on the update page with the date and what changed. We do not quietly rewrite a sentence and leave the page looking as though it always said that.

How to reach the desk

One address covers everything: [email protected]. It is monitored by the same person who writes the pages, so there is no handoff between “somebody told us” and “somebody fixed it”.

The three most useful things you can send are a code that actually redeemed for you, a measurement taken with a stopwatch, and a page on this site that contradicts what you see in game. All three move the site forward in a way that reading it does not.

What you will not find here

No personal social media accounts, no author profiles linking elsewhere, and no third-party contact forms. The contact page explains what happens to a message after you send it, and the privacy page covers what the site stores, which is almost nothing.

Sources: this page describes our own staffing and process. Our standard of evidence is set out in the editorial policy.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Why do you use a pen name?

Because the work should stand on whether it is checkable, not on who did it. Every factual claim here points at a source or at a dated in-game test, and that is the thing to judge.

Who do I contact about a mistake?

The desk email, which goes to the same person who writes the corrections. Mistakes get a dated entry in the update log rather than a silent edit.

Do you accept guest posts or sponsored content?

No. There is no paid placement on this site, and no page here has been commissioned by anyone.
